Cranbrook, Exeter, Devon

Contract value: £685,000
Plumbing & Heating – Communal HIU
Main contractor: Taylor Wimpey

Now the South West's largest project of its kind, Cranbrook is modern, forward looking and dynamic, utilising leading edge technologies for communication, connectivity and energy, for homes and businesses alike. It is also eco-friendly and low carbon and utilises the District heating concept using a communal Heat Interface Unit (HIU) to efficiently transfer heat from one energy plant room to all Cranbrook's individual dwellings.

The communal HIU unit is for central heating and domestic hot water needs. Therefore there is no gas on site and no conventional boiler in any of the houses or apartments. Single zone heating has been requested across this site with Stelrad Elite radiators.

Twyfords Alcona Sanitaryware has been requested with Alto Pillar brassware. Aqualisa thermostatic and electric showers have been specified both in enclosures and over baths. Eco baths, 4/2.6 Ltr dual flush WCs and flow limiters are additional requirement’s for housing association plots. A number of disabled plots have additional sanitaryware requirements of floor drain showers, shower seats and grab rails.
